Free oscillations of a thin cylindrical shell

Abstract

An elastic homogeneous isotropic circular cylindrical thin shell fixed at its ends is considered. Eigenvalues and eigenfrequencies of such shell are analyzed. The wave equation of the circular cylindrical thin shell, with an adequately specified boundary condition, is used for that purpose. Eigenvalues l and eigenfrequencies k can be calculated by the wave equation using the dimension reduction method (DMR). The calculation was carried out on personal computer using the Mathematica software.
